The Stagazer’s Lodge
The Facilities
The Property
It is our second home, but we are happy offer it for let a few times a year when we are not resident. We regrettably can only consider medium to longer term rentals, strictly sleeping a maximum of 6 overnight occupants for a minimum of 7 days self serving. While we intend to maintain the rustic and “back to basics” nature of the four bedroom house, it has been upgraded with a solar system and can completely run off grid as long as the use of the heavy consumers (washing machine, dishwasher and oven) is managed properly.
The cooker top and hot water are gas fired to ensure a fully functional house during during load shedding. We however rent it grid connected, but you will never be left in the dark, although the dark is best for stargazing. There are strict house rules on the estate and it is also relatively remote and quiet, so may best suit walkers or those just wanting to put their feet up.
The Area
The property is best suited to those seeking a relaxing time away in nature, but with some modern amenities still close by. There are superb restaurants in nearby Agulhas and Struisbaai with fish typically served fresh from the day’s catch. Why not take a boat ride and maybe spot a whale or two, simply wander the length of the amazing white sandy beach or dare to explore the more rugged local Suiderstrand coastal walk to the lagoon.
Typical tourist attractions are also on offer such as venturing up the old lighthouse ladder or a visit to a typical fisherman’s cottage in Struisbaai to see what life used to be like. If you fancy a drive, explore the nearby towns of Hermanus, Arniston or visit the Waenhuiskrans caves. Fancy shopping for antiques, drop into the Napier antiques warehouse. I can almost guarantee you will not have time to do it all.
